kepler upgrade Friday 1/28 & Saturday 1/29

Hi

kepler.berkeley.edu will be unavailable some time on Friday 1/28 and Saturday 1/29 for an upgrade.

The upgrade will happen in two steps:

1. On Friday 1/28 10PM, kepler will be moved temporarily to a different server. This is so that people can continue to log in while we upgrade the actual kepler server. Since kepler is just a login server, the only service potentially affected are the license servers for matlab, comsol, patran, etc. Mathematica will not be available. Your files (on the file server) will not be affected.

You will not be allowed to change your password during the time.

Actual downtime is probably 5-10 minutes.

If you have any cronjobs that log into kepler, it may be interrupted.

2. Once kepler is upgraded the next day (Saturday), we'll move kepler back onto the original server. Actual downtime is another 15 minutes.

If you encounter any issues w/ kepler, please let us know. A message will be posted on MOTD after kepler is upgraded.
